BJP will contest from Hoshiarpur, says Kalia

Jalandhar Putting to rest the speculation that the BJP would exchange the Hoshiarpur (reserve) constituency in lieu of Ludhiana or any other seat with its alliance partner, the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), BJP minister Manoranjan Kalia said the party would contest the allotted third seat of Hoshiarpur. “The process of selection of the candidate for the Hoshiarpur seat has already been initiated and the name will be announced very soon,” Kalia said. The party has already announced names of its two candidates: MPs Navjot Sidhu and Vinod Khanna, from Amritsar and Gurdaspur respectively.

For the Hoshiarpur seat, IAS officer Som Parkash, who will retire soon and Vijay Sampla, chairman of the Punjab Khadi Board are the front runners, sources said.
