Vadodara The Blind Welfare Council has decided to provide financial support to students, whose parents are visually challenged, so that they can continue with their studies.

The council has identified 80 children from 47 families living in Vadodara district and its outskirts who require financial support for their education.

"A lot of young students had to give up their studies as their parents cannot earn the minimum amount to support their studies. This affects the child's confidence and development. We aim to support these children so that they don't have to give up their studies at a young age," said Ghansham Bhavsar, Development officer at Blind Welfare Council.

An amount of Rs 35,000, which was collected by the city-based NGO United Way of Baroda, was distributed among the students along with the other classroom necessities on Sunday. "The amount has been given for one semester and has been given as per the age and classroom requirement of every student," said Bhavsar.
