“We are happy that tourists who had come to relax in Shimla also contributed along with the locals for the well-being of people of Himachal,” said general secretary, VOH, Varun Ratan Singh, president, Umang, Ajai Srivastava and president, YES, Akarshaan Chauhan, in a joint statement. To initiate a quick response in time of blood shortage in the future, the VOH also launched an online registration facility for voluntary blood donors on their website to create an online database that could be used by the needy at anytime.
In another camp held in Kasumpti area of Shimla today, religious organisations responded to the call of blood shortage at IGMCH and collected 26 units, said Balram Sharma, organiser of the camp. “Such initiatives by the society are very helpful in meeting the shortage”, said Dr ML Kaushal, in-charge blood bank IGMCH.
