Blossoms - 2008 organised for freshers of College of Nursing

Ludhiana, January 4 College of Nursing of Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) organised a function — Blossoms-08 — to welcome the newly admitted students in BSc (N), Post Basic BSc (N) and GNM today.

Principal of College of Nursing, Dr Jasbir Kaur exhorted the students and freshers to vow to carry on the responsibility of nursing profession with dedication. Dr Daljit Singh, principal, DMCH extended warm welcome to students, management, faculty members and guests even as he hailed the increase in the number of seats in BSc(N) programme and cent per cent result of out-going batches.

The college welcomed 100 B.Sc (N), 50 GNM and 30 Post-Basic BSc (N) students. The main attraction of the programme was Miss and Mr Fresher’s contests with Dr Navjot Bajwa, Dr Deepinder Kaur, Dr B.S. Auklakh and Suresh Kumar Sharma in the judgement seats. The participating freshers entertained the audience with colourful cultural programme using themes from Punjabi, Western and various Hindi songs.

Gurpreet Marwaha was declared Miss Fresher, Miss Preet Kamal Hans first runner-up and Miss Nitika second runner-up. Arvinder Singh Hira bagged the title of Mr Fresher.

Akashdeep got the title of Miss Catwalk and Bhawjit was adjudged as Miss Smile. Secretary of DMCH Managing Society, Prem Kumar Gupta crowned Miss and Mr Fresher.

Senior students presented a variety of dances and a colourful skit. Meritorious students who had secured first three positions in B.Sc (Nursing) 2007 examinations were presented Dumra Trust sholarships of Rs 9,000 each.

These scholarships were awarded by Prem Gupta, teasurer of DMCH Managing Society. Satish Swalka and Dr. Daljit Singh Savitri awards were given to first two position holders in GNM.
