Noida The competition between Bluelines to get maximum passengers turned ugly on Monday. A Blueline bus driver shot at another driver in front of the office of senior superintendent of police in Gautam Buddha Nagar. The victim was injured in the incident.

According to the police, the incident occurred around 12.30 pm when the two buses — route number 363 (DL1PB7815) which ply between ISBT and Noida, and route number 300 (DL1PB8654) which ply between Central Secretariat and Noida — stopped at the Sector 14-A bus stop to take passengers.

At the bus stop, the drivers had an argument over their timings, Ashok Tripathi, SP (city), Noida, said. Enraged that the other bus had taken more passengers, the driver of the number 363 bus route shot the victim in his leg. “He got on to the other bus, shot Praveen Bhati in his leg and jumped out,” Tripathi said.

On hearing the gunshot, the policemen from the nearby office of the SSP rushed to the spot, but by then Kumar had fled leaving the bus on the spot.

The Noida police informed the Delhi Police about the incident. Kumar was nabbed near the Mayur Vihar phase-II checkpost, where on being confronted he fired at the police.

The injured driver has been admitted to the District Hospital of Noida. Cases have been registered against Kumar in Noida and Delhi.

The bus passengers say for the drivers to fight over passengers is a routine affair. “Every day they argue over passengers, which sometimes get violent,” a commuter Rashmi Seth said.
