Mumbai Activists of the Shiv Sena allegedly manhandled an official of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation for removing the party’s saffron flag opposite the Sena shakha in Dahisar. Sena’s Vibhag Pramukh of north Mumbai, Vinod Ghoshalkar, manhandled assistant engineer (maintenance) R North ward office when a huge flag opposite Sena shakha in Shantinagar was removed and a small structure displaying names of local Sena leaders and activists was being demolished.

The fuming Sena leader allegedly entered into an argument and manhandled the civic official for ‘daring to touch the Sena flag’. The police who had earlier refused to file a complaint did so after Municipal Commissioner intervened.

When contacted, Ghoshalkar said, “We had no objection to the action taken on flags put on roads and in between dividers. But how dare they touched the flag opposite our shakha?” he said. He added that the civic administration was acting on a complaint launched by a local Congress corporator. “We had already removed a few flags and would have gladly removed the big flag as well had we been told to do so. But we could not tolerate BMC officers doing so,” Ghoshalkar said.

Assistant engineer maintenance, Vivek Kalyankar said that Shiv Sainiks indulged in rough arguments and therefore an FIR was filed. However, police officials from MHB colony, Dahisar were not available for comments.
