The dead bodies of two software professionls with a Wakad-based corporate firm were found on Thursday afternoon — four days after the two went missing. The bodies were found at the Torna fort in Velhe taluka, about 45 km from the city.

The deceased — Shaurya Vardhan Garg (26) of Anjels society, Pimple Saudagar and Sagar Munjal Sanghvi (25) of Senapati Bapat Road — had gone for a trip to the Torna fort on Sunday.

When they did not return, their families lodged a missing report with the Velhe police station on Tuesday.

Following this, a team of police, army personnel, local citizens and NGO activists launched a search operation. A private helicopter was also pressed into the searches operation.

Assistant police inspector R B Unde of Velhe police station said that the bodies of the duo were recovered from a canyon, about 1,100 ft deep, at the Zunzar machi area of the Torna fort.

“We suspect that one of them lost his foothold and fell into the canyong and in a bid to save him, the other person also fell, “ Unde said.

It was learned that the search teams first found a bag in a deep gulch near Zunzar machi.

The team followed the trail and found the camera, identity cards and other objects owned by the deceased. The search teams later located the dead bodies and managed to get them out of the gulch in the afternoon. The Velhe police sent the bodies for post mortem.
