Body of watchman of Sector-8 post office found

Panchkula What was suspected to be a failed robbery at the Sector 8-post office turned into a murder on Monday, when the body of Harjinder Singh, a watchman at the post office, was found from a secluded area in Sector 26, Panchkula, late on Sunday night. Harjinder was missing since the post office was discovered ransacked on Sunday morning. No valuables or cash was reported missing.

“We were on the lookout for Harjinder after the robbery attempt. The watchman seems to have been strangled to death,” said a police officer.

Brother of the deceased, Swarn Singh, said: “Harjinder had been working with the post office since 1992.”

SP Panchkula Sandeep Khirwar said no one has been arrested as yet.
