He shot into the limelight for treating tennis ace Sania Mirza’s uncomfortable wrist injury without surgery. Cricketer Yuvraj Singh sought help from him to treat injuries that were hampering his performance. Despite being popular among the stars of Indian sports, Chaudhary is modest.

“I just did my job. For me they were ordinary patients,” says the 27-year-old, who attends to a stream of patients at his one-room clinic—tucked away in a congested street in Hakikat Nagar, Kingsway Camp—for 12 hours in a day.

Chaudhary is one of the few practitioners of an alternative therapy that has been known to cure diseases without any surgical procedure, side-effects, or medicines. Known as the Ingham Method, after physical therapist Eunice D. Ingham, it involves studying the pulse of the patient to diagnose a problem and stimulating the affected area using electric stimulators and needles. Results, however, take two-three months to show.

“There are various pressure points in the body and each point corresponds to a particular gland. By measuring the pulse, we identify the cure for the particular problem. In standard reflexology the pressure points are fixed, but in this technique they vary from individual to individual,” Chaudhary explains. After working for three years at the Bishen Singh Bedi cricket academy as a sports psychologist, Chaudhary decided “to cure more people”. So after a year’s training in the Ingham Method at the New Age International University, Seberag, Italy, he returned to open a clinic in his home town, Delhi.

So why doesn’t this technique find too many takers among doctors? The deterrent, Chaudhary believes, is the vastness of the subject. “There are over 72 lakh pressure points in the body as per the Ingham Method. And I know only 3,000 of them. Every morning I spend over two hours going through the points, otherwise I can forget them,” he says. Chaudhary charges a modest fee of Rs 200-400.
