According to ASP Balbir Singh, the call was received at around 12 am threatening to blow up these places. Dog squads, bomb diffusion squad and police force were immediately dispatched to these places. Police pickets were posted around these places to check any untoward incidence.
The Galaxy Mall was vacated and extensive search was conducted in the whole complex. All the shopkeepers and residents were alerted and directed to inform the police on finding anything suspicious.
The GRP was also alerted immediately to conduct extensive search. The GRP personnel searched every passenger and person present on the station. All the passengers present on the Railway Station were asked to gather in a corner to facilitate the search operation. Dog squads were also pressed into service.
Besides, the nearby general bus stand and surrounding areas were also searched for bomb. The search was conducted under the direction of DSP Rajesh Sharma.
The police have stated that they have not been able to identify the caller. The SP said the phone booth from where the call was made has been identified. Records of the booth were also examined and the owner of the booth near Deluxe Dhaba in Ambala Cantonment has been detained for interrogation. He said the owner of the booth has been asked to recall the face of the caller. However, no person was identified till the filing of this report.
