“We want the younger generation, who were disillusioned by last year’s squabbles, to return to the fair. And what better way to connect than music,” said Tridib Chatterjee, General Secretary of the Publishers and Booksellers Guild.

The track Oi Dakche Boi has music scored by Bickram Ghosh, lyrics penned by filmmaker Sugato Guha. The song features artistes like Rupankar, Subhamita, Lopamudra Mitra, Srikanto Acharya, Rupam Islam, Pratik Chowdhury and Ruprekha Banerjee. The video has been shot by filmmaker Riingo.

“Since literature has no boundaries, I decided to rope in Italian guitarist Juliano Modoreli into the project,” said Ghosh. So, Oi Dakche Boi essentially retains the melodies of typical Bengali compositions but infuses bits of Flamenco, Latin beats, Cuban percussion and Spanish horn.

Though the Guild refused to divulge the budget for the project, it said the CD will be available at the fair for sale. The composite CD will also have recitals by prominent poets.

Song and dance apart, food will be another glam quotient of the fair this year. “We will have a Scottish Food Festival and fly down a Scottish chef to the fair,” said Chatterjee.
