Pune The first two "Jan Sadharan ticket booking sewaks" in Central Railway zone were inaugurated on Monday. Rail commuters will be able to purchase unreserved tickets three days in advance from these kiosks and avoid the lines at the railway station. Only senior citizens will be able to get platform tickets and concessional tickets.

For this service, passengers will be charged an additional Re 1 extra per ticket.

Railway officials are hopeful that this service will be successful. "In places like Delhi, these agents sell close to 3000 unreserved tickets each day. We hope the Pune will also embrace this concept. Passengers will be able to save time, and the crowds will decrease from the railway station," said Ashok Malhotra, senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Pune Division.

Pune division of Central Railway has appointed 17 such sewaks at 10 cities/towns. (Six in Pune(Sadashiv Peth, Narpatgiri Chowk, Kondhwa, Tadiwala Road, Karve Road, Manjari Road), one in Khadki, one in Dapodi, one in Akrudi, one in Dehu Road, one in Talegaon, one in Chinchwad, one in Karad, one in Kolhapur and one in Miraj).
