Irish saddle artist Colm O’Donoghue had kept the champion horse in the fourth position all the way till the final bend while his stable mate Regal Reform acted the perfect pace setter. The two main challengers - Bourbon King, Czar Alexander were running in second spot while Hotstepper was moving in fifth position.

As the field came into view from the stands, C Rajendra pushed Czar Alexander into the lead past fading Regal Reform. Soon O’Donoghue let loose Bourbon King for the final task and the son of Diffident responded with a superb run to snatch the lead from Czar Alexander. Then there was no stopping Bourbon King. Hotstepper finished an eye catching second.
