Boxing championship held

Ludhiana, February 6 The 15th North India Boxing Championship was organised by Panjab Amateur Boxing Association under the leadership of Gurvir Singh Shahi, Director Shahi Sports College of Physical Education, at Jharroudi 4 km from here.

Boxers from five states attended the function. The championship was inaugurated by MLA Jagjiwan Singh Khirnian. He unfurled the sports flag, and took salute during the marchpast by boxers.

The prize distribution ceremony performed by Chairman Mandi board and Cabinet Minister Parminder Singh Dhindsa. Khirnian and Dhindsa assured Director Shahi that a link road would be built to the college.

Suba Harbhajan Singh ,Sant Harpal Singh, Surinder Singh and others attended the function too. Most of the medals were won by Punjab boxers. A remote-controlled model aeroplane showered stickers and attracted the spectators at the function.
