A 10-year-old boy, who was found dead with multiple head injuries in the Jaitpur area of the Capital earlier this week, was allegedly killed by a young acquaintance for a mobile phone and Rs 50, police said on Saturday. The body of Vikas, who had gone out to get his father’s mobile phone recharged, was found in the Madanpur Khadar area on January 6 with multiple head injuries. Twenty-year-old Sonu alias Kale, who was known to Vikas, lured the victim to a secluded place and hit his head with a stone until he died, police said. Sonu then took away Rs 50 that Vikas was carrying along with the mobile phone, which he then sold to a resident of JJ colony in Madanpur Khadar. The trail for the missing mobile phone led to the man who was using it and finally to Sonu, who on interrogation confessed to have killed the boy, police said. Sonu, who works as casual labourer, is from a poor family and a school dropout, they said.
