According to orders released by the Registrar PAU (a copy of which is in possession of Newsline), Brar has been allowed to join back his previous post in compliance with the orders of the Punjab and Haryana High Court. According to the order signed by the Registrar, which is in compliance of the HC order, the Vice-Chancellor has allowed Brar to join as DSW with immediate effect during the pendency of the writ petition.
Notable here is that this order comes in the wake of petition filed by Brar who had asked for a stay on the decision of the PAU Board that had revoked his suspension and sent him back to his parent department till the inquiry into the matter was on.
Post the petition, the university has been granted time till February 20 to present its objections, if any on the day. Brar had personally submitted a copy of the court orders to the university on January 23 and had asked university to be allowed to join his post as DSW immediately failing which the university would have to face contempt of court.
The registrar Dr R K Mahey had, meanwhile, maintained that the university can only allow the same after it receives the order directly from the court. In the order released by the university today, the institute states that it has received the HC order and thus its compliance was being done.
Before Brar was sent back to his parent department, the university had suspended him on the basis of the fact-finding committee. However, the Board of Management in its meeting held during the first quarter of this month has revoked his suspension was revoked and instead it was decided that he be sent to the department as a professor.
An employee working under Brar had lodge a complaint against him for sexually harassing her. The university had served a chargesheet to Brar, on the basis of the report of the fact-finding committee, on which he has been asked to file his reply by February 5.
