Kolkata Madhyamik student run over by bus
A student appearing for Madhyamik examinations was mowed by a speeding bus in North 24-Parganas’ Naihati on Wednesday. Troyee Chattopadhyay was on her way to an examination centre when the bus collided against the rickshaw she was travelling in. A student of Katyayani Girls High School, Troyee was sitting for the exam at the Bhatpara Kendriya Hindu Vidyalaya centre. She was accompanied by her classmate Tandra Saha, who was also injured in the accident.

Two arrested for human trafficking
Two persons were arrested on Wednesday for their alleged involvement in trafficking minor girls in Sonagachi. Ashok Ghosh alias Ramprakash Ghosh and his associate Manju Das, an alleged sex worker, reportedly brought the two girls, both siblings and residents of South 24-Paraganas, on the promise of providing them jobs. After they were brought to Sonagachi, Durbar Mahila Samanay Samiti, an NGO for sex workers’ welfare, rescued them and handed them over to the police.
