Shimla Countering the charges of former speaker and senior vice-president Congress, Gangu Ram Musafir, Minister for Social Justice, Sarveen Chaudhary, and BJP president Jairam Thakur today said the budget for the SC component has been raised to 25 per cent, from the earlier 11 per cent, during the Congress rule. As a result, the allocation has increased to Rs 594 crores, against Rs 231 crores, which is an increase of 157 per cent.

The Dhumal government had increased the social security pensions from Rs 200 to 300 per month and daily wages from Rs 70 to Rs 100, from January 1, 2008.

The social security pensions were raised to Rs 330 from January 1 this year. Chaudhary and Jairam Thakur took an exception to Musafir’s charges against the government of ignoring interests of the SC community and reminded about steps taken for upliftment of the students belonging to SC community and protecting the weaker sections.
