These pearls of wisdom given by Dr Vipin Kumar Jain at a student interaction held at the R S Model Senior Secondary School, Shastri Nagar on Saturday.
Dr Jain is a reader and head of department, Humanity Science and Education, Pandit Sunder Lal Sharma Central Vocational Education Organisation, Bhopal. Being an expert in ‘enterprenurship development’, Dr Jain has delivered several lectures in schools, college and institutes across the country. He has also written four books on entrepreneurship with his bestseller being 100% success.
“I was a businessman but could not operate it in the right way. So, I ventured into this job about 15 years ago. I preach to people what I learnt from my mistakes.”
His lecture was made interesting and explicit with anecdotes from the lives of great men and women. He gave the example of Parveen Barsi in the UK where she started her ‘samosa business’ by selling samosas to her neighbours and is now known as the ‘samosa queen of UK’.
Another inspiring example was of entrepreneur Jaswantiben who started the renowned Lijjat papad with an investment of Rs 80. Visual clippings from films such as Guru and Chak de India were also shown to the students.
Talking to Newsline, DR Jain said: “I think girls can be better entrepreneurs as the skill of managerial competence is inbuilt in them. It is my observation that students of Maharastra, Chandigarh and some parts of Karnataka have more confidence as compared to other places. As far as Punjab is concerned, it comes somewhere in the middle. States like Jharkhand, Bihar and Madhya Pradesh lag behind in terms of confidence-building among students. Teachers should prepare students for the future. People work just for the sake of it and do not want achieve anything extra. This attitude should be avoided.”
