The MP was visited by district collector Prabhakar Deshmukh around 3.30 pm today. Speaking to The Indian Express, Deshmukh said he had personally gone to meet the MP to check on the security arrangements and said that he was a nice and well mannered individual.
Deshmukh said he had a ten-minute interaction with him in which he ascertained with him that all the security arrangements were in place and he was comfortable. His spokesperson told him that the “basic course in paragliding was also looked at by the MP more as team building activity for his friends and members from the Amethi constituency.
Deshmukh said he had a general discussion with the MP and added that he had specifically visited him along with rural police to check if there was no shortcoming in security arrangements in the area. “Rahul Gandhi enquired about the development in the area. We informed him about Khed SEZ which involves people’s participation.” Rural superintendent of police Vishwas Nangare-Patil also briefed him about dispute-free village plan, Deshmukh said.
The MP was in the district to take a basic course in paragliding from Sanjay Rao, who runs Nirvana Adventures.
A theory session was earlier conducted at Rao’s home in Uksan and then MP took his initial steps in paragliding yesterday.
