New Delhi Two hours before a cashier was shot dead by robbers in a liquor shop in Krishna Nagar, a businessman was looted of Rs 4 lakh at gunpoint in a neighboring area, Farsh Bazaar, around 8.30 pm on Tuesday.

Police said four armed motorcycle-borne assailants overtook Pradeep Aggarwal, also riding a bike, and forced him to a stop behind Swarn Cinema. “The robbers demanded that Aggarwal part with his bag containing Rs 4 lakh. When he hesitated, one of the robbers fired two shots aimed at the ground between the legs of the victim. Scared, Aggarwal handed over his bag to the men, who fled the spot,” said a senior police officer.

Aggarwal, businessman who dealt in copper, was on his way home to Vishwas Nagar when the incident took place. A case of robbery has been registered at the Farsh Bazaar Police Station.

Although the assailants in this case were dressed in jeans while those involved in the liquor-shop robbery were dressed in tracksuits, the police are investigating whether the same gang was at work in both the cases
