Businessman shot at, people protest

Ambala, March 2 A businessman Gaurav Chalana was seriously injured when some unidentified men shot at him at his residence in Gobindnagar, Ambala Cantonment, late on Saturday night. Chalana was rushed to the civil hospital from where he was referred to the PGI Chandigarh in serious condition. The police have registered a case against unidentified assailants.

Meanwhile, agitated over the attack on the businessman, scientific instruments and goods manufacturers went to the residence of local MLA D K Bansal to request him for the arrest of the assailants. However, when the MLA’s gunman Lalit Kumar refused to allow them to meet him, they tried to enter the house forcibly.

In the struggle, the agitated family members of Gaurav Chalana and others thrashed the gunman. They were demanding immediate arrest of one Kalu who had quarrelled with Chalana over the payment of Rs 2,000. A complaint was lodged against the persons for beating the gunman.
