Ludhiana The election campaigning overshadowed the celebrations of the 63rd Republic Day. Most councillors were missing from the function as they were busy in election campaigning. The number of visitors was bare minimum at the district level function organised at SD Government College while the cultural programmes were reduced to almost half the number at previous events.

Tableaus of various departments, which used to be the main attraction at Republic Day celebrations, were missing. Almost all the departments were busy with election arrangements; so the staff could not get time for tableau making, revealed sources..

Deputy Commissioner Rahul Tiwari unfurled the National flag at the district-level function. Republic Day was also marked by the Indian Medical Association, SDP College for Women, Ryan International School and many other organisations.
