Sirsa Leaders say rally postponed due to bad weather

The cancellation of the district-level rally, slated to be addressed jointly by INLD’s Om Prakash Chautala and BJP’s national president Rajnath Singh, has raised several questions on the alliance between the two parties in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections. According to INLD leaders, the rally, scheduled to be held at Nehru Park, was cancelled due to bad weather.

However, the local residents say the rally could have been easily delayed and not cancelled.

The delay in announcement of seat sharing between the two parties has also raised doubts over the alliance.

A senior INLD leader, on condition of anonymity, said the rally was not cancelled but postponed. On the other hand, district president Padam Jain said because of a low turnout in Sirsa district, the rally has been rescheduled for next week. “We (INLD and BJP) are together and will contest the elections jointly. But we are not above the forces of nature,” he said.
