Shows will be organised breedwise in seven groups according to standards set by the Kennel Club of India. The Toy, Terrier, and Utility groups will be judged on January 12, while the Hound, Working, Gundog and Pastoral groups will be judged on January 13.
A total of 17 dogs from all these groups will be selected for the final round for the title of ‘Best in Show (1 to 8).’ There will also be a special category for ‘Best Puppy in Show’ and Best Indian Bred Dog.
To judge the event, reputed judges have been invited including Jackie Perry from Thailand, Larry Yuen from Malaysia and Jagtheshwar Singh from Punjab. A German Shepherd Speciality Dog Show has been organised by the German Shepherd Dog Club of India’s Sahyadri Chapter, Pune. This will be judged by Helmut Koening from Germany.
Nearly 500 participants are expected to take part, and about 7000 dog lovers are expected to attend the event from across the country. The shows will be held from 9 am to 6 pm at the Krishna Sundar Garden, Gaikwad Farms, Erandawana, 100 Ft DP Road, Near Mhatre Bridge.
