‘Cardiology Today’ at MH(CTC)

Pune For the first time in the city, ‘Carto’, a unique three dimensional mapping procedure to detect and treat arrhythmias, the abnormal rhythm of the heart, will be carried out at the Military Hospital (Cardio Thoracic Centre) on January 10 and 11.

Col A Banerji, head of the department of Cardiology, MH (CTC) and Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) said that arrhythmias can be life threatening and this procedure was an electro anatomic mapping which can trace the abnormal rhythms of the heart.

The procedure will be performed for the first time at the live workshop ‘Cardiology Today’ from January 10.

The meet will be inaugurated by Lt Gen OP Mathew, Commandant, Army Hospital (R&R). Lt Gen SR Mehta, Commandant AMC Centre and School, Lucknow and Lt Gen Shiv Kumar Sharma, Director and Commandant Armed Forces Medical College will be present on the occasion.

According to Brig R P Choubey, Commandant, Military Hospital (CTC) Pune, senior specialist officers of the Armed Forces Medical Services and delegates including cardiologists,cardiac surgeons, cardiac anesthesiologists, paediatric cardiologists and clinicians are expected to attend the conference. The delegates and faculty will also include a large number of eminent civilian doctors from leading medical institutions of the country.

The workshop will include live demonstration of the management of a number of challenging and complex cardiac interventions by experts. There will be real time live interactive sessions between the audience on the one hand and the operators on the other to highlight the technicalities involved in each procedure.
