Budding actors conclude workshop with female foeticide skit

A Trembling woman looking scared, cowering before a crowd of people who are menacingly advancing towards her. She is frightened for the little girl child who the crowd is out to kill. Society is still not willing to give the girl child a chance, this was the message enacted out in a mime sequence on female foeticide by budding actors doing their 15 days acting workshop at Mad Arts, Jaspal Bhatti’s Film School in Mohali on Monday.

The children, between 5-15 years age bracket, learnt from Faculty Head, Acting, Anoop Sharma, the finer nuances of acting like theatre games, mime, face expressions and body language according to ‘Rasas’. They faced the camera doing comedy enactments, “Shair-O-Shairi”, poetry recitation, mime and stand-up comedy anchoring. The children were also trained in voice exercise and in the art of make up.

Concluding the workshop, CEO of Mad Arts, Savita Bhatti, said that with the enormous potential of talent in children, the school was taking a serious look at harnessing acting skills in the teenagers. “We are ready with another two month acting workshop for young children in May,” she informed.

Savita revealed that some of the participant teenagers were so talented that they will be given a chance to work in future projects of Jaspal Bhatti Productions and Mad Arts.
