The arrested gang members have been identified as Sawan alias Rana, Avtar Singh alias Taari, Simrat Pal Singh alias Sunny, Aakash Arora alias Monu and Bhajan Singh alias Gubhi. According to the police, when these persons were arrested yesterday evening, they were hatching a plan to commit a dacoity. A police party led by Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) staff incharge Arvind Puri arrested these gang members from the back side of Government Middle School in Jassian colony. The police had received a tip off about these gang members.
The police have recovered a Sonata car from these alleged cRiminals, which had been snatched from a local businessman, Sumeer Randev, in the wee hours of February 28 from the Miller Ganj locality when the latter was going back to his home in Jamalpur after seeing off some of his relatives at the Railway station. Besides the police have also recovered a stolen Esteem car from them. The gang members had put up fake registration number on the stolen Esteem car. The police said that more cases were likely to be solved with the further questioning of these gang members.
