Shimla The State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau is suspecting a larger picture to the bungling of funds under Catchment Area Treatment (CAT) Plan in Theog forest range. An inquiry is on in the case of the Forest Range officer who was caught with Rs 60 lakh in his bag.

The Divisional Forest Officer of Theog, Barkha Ram, who sanctioned the withdrawal of the funds from the official account, and Range Officer Puram Chand have gone into hiding, said sources.

Sources said all the vouchers and bills, on the basis of which the Range Officer withdrew the money, have been signed by Nepalese labourers but their addresses have not been mentioned.

The Vigilance has asked the forest department to present the labourers before them.
