Many students could not access the results on the Internet because the official website www.catiim.in, displaying scores and a list of selected students, crashed after the declaration of results.
Sagar Nimavat was, however, lucky. “I was tense because the website was not opening. I had to use the SMS facility to get my score. Luckily it elicited a quick response. I have missed the IIMs, but with 90 percentile I am hopeful of getting a seat in some other good college.”
This year’s CAT cut-off score for the IIMs is expected to be lesser than that of the previous years. Gulshan Kheskani of the Endeavour Carriers Private Ltd, a coaching institute, said: “Because of the tough quantitative analysis part, we are expecting the cut-off to be lower this year. In 2006, the cut-offs for interview calls from the six IIMs was above 140, this year it is expected to hover around 120.”
CAT is the gateway to 111 management institutes, including seven IIMs-Shillong will get its first batch this year — and others like the MDI-Gurgaon, SP Jain-Mumbai and the IMT-Gaziabad. Call letters to candidates selected for interviews and group discussion will be issued later.
