Moga, March 3 The CBI’s investigation into the Moga sex scandal case that came to light last year is “almost over” and the agency is likely to submit its report before the Punjab and Haryana High Court by March 10. The CBI, in its report, has indicted nine persons, including two senior police officers and three politicians, highly-placed sources said here today.

The list included IPS officer DS Garcha and SP (Headquarters) Paramdeep Singh Sandhu— both are in judicial custody— Inspector Amarjit Singh and Sub-Inspector Raman Kumar, two women, Manpreet Kaur and Manjeet Kaur, and three politicians, sources said. Before the filing of its report, the CBI is also likely to grill Congress MLA Joginder Pal Jain and former Punjab education minister Tota Singh as their names also allegedly figured in the investigations.

While Tota Singh accused Jain of hatching a conspiracy against him to malign him, the Congress MLA has refuted charges. The scandal hogged limelight last year when two women Manpreet Kaur and Manjeet Kaur lodged a complaint with the police against few persons for allegedly kidnapping, intimidating and raping them. During the course of investigation, about 19 names figured. However, 14 were arrested and the remaining were discharged by a court in Moga. In December, the High Court had handed over the probe to the CBI.
