The All India Legal Aid Forum, a social organisation, on Wednesday demanded a CBI probe into the allotment of industrial land in Kalyani, made to various companies by the West Bengal Small Industries Development Corporation Limited (WBSIDC).

Joydeep Mukherjee, general secretary of the Forum, claimed the WBSIDC allotted land to certain companies at low rates, while other industries were given land at a premium. Mukherjee claimed that while the WBSIDC handed over a plot of land to Meghna Group on a 99-year-lease at a rate of Rs 24 per square foot, another company was given the land with similar dimensions at Rs 200 per square foot.
