Rajkot, March 2 A Businessman has filed a complaint in a local court here against the Joint Commissioner of Central Excise and three other officers for confining and threatening him, the police said.

Sanjay Somani in his complaint alleged that the Commissioner and his three other officers confined him and beat him up at the Central Excise office and forced him to give false statement.

He added they also threatened to throw him from the sixth floor of the office, if their demands were not met .

The department, on February 14, had carried out a survey at Somani’s office premises but could not find any objectionable material, the complainant claimed.

He was then called on February 28 at the department’s office where he was forced to confess his involvement in importing duty-free goods illegally, he said.

According to officials, the court ordered the Pradhyuman Nagar police to investigate the matter and submit the report within 30 days.
