Central Railway offers compensation to 26/11 victims

Mumbai The Central Railway (CR) has paid compensation amounting to Rs 5.19 crore to the victims of the terror attacks. According to Shriniwas Mudgerikar, chief spokesperson, CR, of the 57 people who died at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST) on November 26, compensation was offered to the kin of 52. Three cases are pending for want of legal documents while two bodies are still unclaimed.

The railway paid an amount of Rs 30.75 lakh to the injured. Of the 97 people injured in the attacks, 93 cases were cleared and have received the ex-gratia amount. In the wake of the 26/11 attacks, the rail ministry had raised the ex-gratia amount. As per the orders by the rail ministry, the kin of the dead received Rs 10 lakh, Rs 50,000 in case of grievous injuries, and Rs 15,000 in case of simple injury.
