“This proposal was approved in principle by Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar in Delhi today. The final formalities to implement the scheme would also be worked out,” said Agriculture Minister Narender Bragta.
Talking on the phone from New Delhi, Bragta said he has also asked the Centre to release to the state the support price for fruit growers promised by it as share to the state. “The pending amount of support price for apple and other citrus fruits is worth crores and the state has not been able to pay it to the fruit growers,” said Bragta. The state has also submitted a horticulture project worth Rs 150 crore for approval to the Centre.
