Jalandhar To attract students from abroad, Punjab Technical University (PTU) will soon open an International Students’ Facilitation Centre (ISFC).

Sources said this was being done to facilitate NRIs, People of Indian Origin (PIO) and foreign students. At the centre, students would be provided complete online information about admission and fee structure in engineering and management colleges affiliated to PTU.

As per the state and Central government rules, there is a fixed quota of seats for NRIs, PIOs and foreign students in PTU. However, this provision was earlier not popularised by the university.

Sources said this time, PTU’s Board of Governors had approved the opening of the centre. The board had also fixed the fee structure for foreign and NRI students.

Foreign students would have to pay $5,000 per year and NRI and POI students $2,500.

PTU Vice-Chancellor Dr Rajneesh Arora said ISFC would be a single-window centre, and the PTU has fixed a target of filling at least one per cent of the 25,000 engineering seats with students from abroad in the coming session.
