Centre releases 6.12 cr to modernise police force

Shimla, March 7 To implement the scheme for modernisation of the state police force, the Centre has released Rs 6.12 crore for the Rs 10.67-crore project. The state will bear 25 per cent cost of the project.

The maximum amount of Rs 77.2 lakh would be spent on office equipment, while Rs 43.37 lakh is earmarked for modern training equipment. The other heads that would absorb the funds are mobility, communication equipment, equipment and building of forensic science laboratory, training equipment, security equipment and home guards, said an official communique of the government.

A spokesperson of the government today said that for effective functioning of the police force, efforts have been made by the Centre that the recently sanctioned police reserve battalions would provide direct and indirect employment to youth.
