Mumbai, January 31 Soham Khanolkar is a boy, who loves to stay and play long innings and that’s what he did to help IES Sule Guruji take a commanding lead over Springfield Rizvi on the penultimate day of the four-day MSSA Giles Shield (Elite Division) final played at Elf ground, Oval Maidan, here on Friday.

Sule Guruji, overnight 182 for three, went on to pile up a 427 to gain a big 174 runs lead.

At close Rizvi replied with 14 without loss. With just a day remaining, Sule Guruji have virtually shut the doors for Rizvi and are all set to win their maiden title.

The overnight pair of Soham Khanolkar and Akash Parkar continued to bat without taking undue risk and added 54 runs to take the total to 236 when Akash fell legbefore to leftarm spinner Alpesh Ramjani for 87 with 13 fours. However, Soham with skipper Shivprakash Jaiswal continued to torment the Rizvi boys as they put on 87 runs for the fifth wicket and took the score to 323 before Shivprakash departed.

Akash meanwhile was picture of concentration and executed some lovely stokes all round the wicket.

After batting for over 400 minutes, he was out legbefore to leftarm spinner Aditya Dhumal with the score reading 371. His 150 contained 19 fours.

For Rizvi, leftarm spinner Aditya bore the brunt of their attack and was rewarded with six wickets for 121 runs off 42.2 overs.

Brief scores: Springfield Rizvi 253 (Alpesh Ramjani 113, Prithvi Kakar 30, Vikas Singh 24; Pranav Pedamkar 4 for 35, Akash Parkar 3 for 82) and 14 for no wkt. vs IES Sule Guruji 427 (Pranav Pedamkar 44, Soham Khanolkar 150, Akash Parkar 87, Shivprakash Jaiswal 37, Sarevesh Lokegavakar 38; Aditya Dhumal 6 for 121).
