Patiala, January 3
Aimed at conserving energy, Punjab State Electricity Board has decided to make the use of compact fluorescent lamps of maximum 20 watts in place of GLS bulbs mandatory at two lighting points at each AP tube well kothas. The new rule will be effective from February 1. PSEB chairman Y S Ratra said there were 10 lakh tubewell connections in Punjab and the step would help save 150 MW of electricity.
“There will also be about 40 MW peak load reduction,’ he said, adding consumers using GLS bulbs at tubewell kothas after February 1 shall face immediate disconnection.
