Patiala, March 4 With reinvestigation on charges of disproportionate assets and corruption against former director general of police S.S. Virk having started, former minister for local government Ch Jagjit Singh has been summoned for questioning by the one-man probe panel here tomorrow.

Sources said Jagjit Singh will be questioned on his role in sanctioning a mega housing project of the former DGP in Zirakpur. He will be questioned for the criterion and grounds under which he sanctioned the housing project.

Ch Jagjit has been asked to appear before the one-man probe panel headed by Patiala SSP S.K. Asthana, summons for which have been sent to him, it is learnt.

The probe panel for reinvestigating the charges of corruption and disproportionate assets against Virk has been set by the Punjab government after the disbanding of the Vigilance probe against Virk by the Punjab and Haryana High Court.

Sources add that though the Zirakpur Municipal Council and village panchayat had refused to accord their sanction for the housing project of the former DGP, the minister had sanctioned it at his level. Meanwhile, Virk himself was also summoned before the probe panel earlier this month. Citing health problems, Virk has requested for more time from the panel and is now likely to appear by the middle of this month.
