Nitin Bal Chauhan, 28 is still learning the ropes at the fashion week, but, the quietly respectful boy from Chamba is slowly but surelymaking his presence felt. At a well attended preview of his collection “Waiting For Yellow”, held at the Fluid Lounge in Noida, Chauhan pulled out an impressive range of styles, all made of traditional Himachali wool. Woven and dyed back home in Chamba, the patchwork designs in skirts and high waisted trousers were quirky and fun. The accompaniments were berets and the Kullu cap, cleverly turned into a Victorian hat, complete with a broad rim. “The music for my show will be melancholic. The idea is to bring out the slow decay and problems traditional artisans have in India,” said Chauhan. Mercifully, the clothes were far from gloomy.
