Taking cognisance of separate complaints filed by Fiza and Global Human Rights Council (GHRC) chairperson Arvind Thakur, the PSHRC division bench comprising chairperson Justice R S Mongia and Justice Baldev Singh called upon SSP Jatinder Singh Aulakh to submit the report on or before March 31 when the case comes up for hearing.
The PSHRC has also sent copies of the complaints to Punjab ADGP IVC-cum-Human Rights for ensuring a submission of the report.
In their separate complaints, which were clubbed together, Fiza and Thakur had alleged that no tangible investigation has been done and no case has been registered on a criminal complaint lodged by Fiza before the SSP on February 16 against former Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan alias Chand Mohammad for offences punishable under Sections 376, 295-A, 420, 500 and 506 of the IPC.
Claiming that a clear cut case was made out for registering an FIR and for proceeding against the accused, Fiza alleged the police were helping the accused, who has political backing and was a sitting MLA of Haryana.
The SSP, meanwhile, has sought legal opinion on Fiza’s complaint following a receipt of the preliminary inquiry report submitted by Varinder Pal Singh before relinquishing his charge as SP (City).
Varinder has recommended legal opinion while opining that the allegations and denials suggested strained relationship between the couple.
“We will proceed further according to legal opinion,” said the SSP while claiming transparency and fairness in the probe.
