Chandigarh boxers claim nine medals

Chandigarh, February 4 Nine boxers from Chandigarh have won medals in the 15th Senior North India Boxing Championship for men organised by Punjab Amateur Boxing Association held at Samrala (Punjab) from February 1 to February 3.

The team returned with a rich haul of two gold medals, four silver medals and three bronze medals.

Manoj Kumar won the gold medal in the under-57 kg category while Baljit Singh claimed the gold medal in the above 91 kg category, thus making the gold medals count of the Chandigarh contingent to two.

In the under-51 kg category, Mukesh Kumar claimed the silver medal while Suman Saurabh grabbed the silver medal in the under-69 kg category. In the under-75 category, Sanjay kumar bagged the silver medal to increase Chandigarh’s silver medal tally to three while Vikas claimed the silver medal in the under-81 kg category to make it four silver medals for Chandigarh.

In the under-60 kg category, Dalvir grabbed the bronze medal while Vikas Dahiya claimed the bronze medal in the under-64 kg category. In the under-91 kg category, Vinod Kumar claimed the bronze medal.

Results : Gold Medal- 1) Manoj Kumar - 57 Kg, 2) Baljit Singh + 91 kg, Silver Medalists- 3) Mukesh Kumar -51 Kg, 4) Suman Saurabh - 69 Kg, 5) Sanjay kumar - 75 Kg, 6) Vikas- 81 kg, Bronze Medalists - 7) Dalvir - 60 Kg, 8) Vikas Dahiya 64 Kg, 9) V Kumar- 91 Kg.
