Chandigarh Chandigarh lad Gaurav Chhibbar has been adjudged the Best Speaker of India. He won a gold medal at the National Youth Festival, which was recently held in West Bengal by beating seven other finalists from across the country. The festival was organised by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India.

Gaurav, who is a final year student of UIET, Panjab University, attributes his success to his parents and said, "My parents have always supported and guided me."

Gaurav has conducted sessions on the 'art of public speaking' in over 50 schools of the region. He has also held workshops at the the British Council, Punjab Engineering College and Rotary International's Chandigarh Central chapter.

Gaurav wishes to pursue a career related to speaking skills. He adds: "I believe that each one of us should have passion for something and should honestly work to achieve it. One should always be optimistic and believe in oneself. I completely believe that hard work pays."

At present, Gaurav is honing his skills to attend the SAARC conference, to be held in February, where he is expected to speak.

Gaurav believes that reading and speaking go hand in hand and parents should help the children inculcate reading habits. He adds, "Reading and speaking helps in increasing ones inner confidence."

A former student of St Stephen's School and DAV College-10, Gaurav idolises his school principal Harold Carver. He thanks his teachers for allowing him to participate in the extra curricular activities, as and when required.
