Parwanoo, February 7 The road connecting Surajpur with Kalka, which leads to Shimla from Chandigarh, has deteriorated so much that the ditches formed due to rains make commuting dangerous here. The problem gets worse in the night especially for two-wheelers who use this route.

According to Ashwani Sharma of Sector 5, Parwanoo, most of the roads leading to Kalka Bazaar become muddy and the vehicles passing by splash the muck around.

D R Kapoor, Executive Engineer, National Highway, was not available for comments.

K P Sharma, Project Director, NHAI, Panchkula, said he has written a letter to the state highway to transfer the road to NHAI. The public has been suffering for the last six months now, due to non-compliance by the two departments.
