In the emulation of the mission, the model, put up at a cost of Rs 5 lakh, was ‘launched’ with effects similar to the original launch of the mission by the PSLV, giving an enthralling experience to the visitors, besides acting as an effective learning tool. “The exercise has given us better understanding of the launching of satellites, which has added to the theoretical knowledge we get in schools,” said Anita Sharma, one of the students on a visit to the science city.
The model, which has been prepared by Kolkata-based Tech Mech Company, is an addition to the impressive array of models displayed at the site, which includes models of the India’s first space satellite Aryabhatta and the United States’ Columbia space mission.
One of the biggest dinosaur parks of the region is also coming up here, with over 40 life-size dinosaurs being erected on an artificial island. Four movable dinosaurs can already be seen in a pyramid-shaped building.
Director General of the science city Dr R S Khandpur said for the first time in the country, a digital planetarium has also been set up here, providing a three-dimensional life-like
experience to the visitors.
“A earthquake simulation system has also been set up where visitors are told about precautions to be taken at the time of an earthquake,” he added.
