Kolkata The Detective Department of Kolkata Police on Saturday filed a chargesheet in the Stephen Court fire incident and named six persons as accused in the case.

The six are Sanjay Bagaria, Sushil Surekha, Prabir More, Joyprakash Singh, Tarun Bagaria and Ram Sankar Prasad, said a senior police officer.

While the building caretaker Bagaria and his associate, Prasad, were arrested on March 25, the other four are absconding.

Damayanti Sen, DC, DD, said: “We have filed the chargesheet. We are in the search of those absconding.”

The Detective Department has slapped non-bailable cases of culpable homicide against the six, besides also booking them for the violation of Fire Safety Act.

The fire in Park Street had led to the death of 43 people on March 23. Nearly a week later, the state government formed an 11-member panel led by former home secretary Sourin Roy to probe the tragedy.
