Charred body found near bus stand

Ludhiana, January 7 A charred body was found near the Local Bus stand on Sunday night. The body was identified as that of 30-year-old Sanjiv Kumar, a resident of Azad Nagar. Division Number 1 police claimed to have booked one person for the murder of Kumar on the complaint of the deceased’s relatives.

Kumar’s body was spotted by passersby near the local bus stand on the intervening night of Sunday and Monday. Police said the killer had poured petrol over Kumar and then set him on fire. Kotwali police claimed to have booked a migrant, Shankar, in connection with the murder of Kumar. Kotwali SHO Nirmal Singh said Shankar, a paan vendor, was absconding.

Theft in mobile phone shop
Thieves broke into a mobile phone shop on Gill Road near GNEC and stole goods worth lakhs of rupees on the intervening night of Sunday and Monday. Sadar police have registered a case. The theft was reported at Chhappa Communication. Owner Saravjit Singh Chhapa told police that seven computers, a few mobile phones and mobile phone recharge coupons were missing from his shop.
