Chasing reel dreams

With a barrage of movies lighting the celluloid and a lot of debutant actors making their way in the film industry, the crew of a movie has to work hard for promotional activities, to make it big; they call it marketing strategy.

Director Rohit Jugraj and cast, Kunal Khemu, Aushima Sawhney and Tulip Joshi, of Superstar were present at Inox on Tuesday, coaxing the choosy audiences to watch their movie this Friday. And a big crowd was waiting for the autographs and a picture with the actors.

“The movie is for anybody and everybody who has a dream and wants to realise it. It is about chasing your dreams and realising it,” says Rohit Jugraj, the director of Superstar.

The lead actor Kunal Khemu, of Kalyug fame, who is playing the two protagonists, Kunal and Karan (yes, he has the unavoidable double role) in the movie, prefers to give a brief of story line and states that he loved the script.

Aushima Sawhney, another up-coming actor, is excited about her new movie. “In the movie, I am playing the role of a diva, a down-to-earth diva actually,” she giggles at her oxymoronic correction. The Delhi-born, Bangkok-schooled actress did a short acting course in Australia. “I made a standing on my own here. I had to face the middle class barriers as, initially, my parents weren't really excited about my choice of career, but I proved everybody wrong by being successful here and I believe in seizing the day”, she states.

The Miss India 2005 participant states that she is enjoying her bite of bollywood, as she never went to Miss India 'with the aim of winning'. “I went there for the experience and not really thinking that I wanted to win,” she tells.

Tulip Joshi, the 2000 Miss India contestant is one of the very few actors who get to debut under the Yashraj films banner. She started her career with Mere yaar ki shadi hai, after which she was known more as Sanjana, the lead female character of the movie. When asked about Matrubhoomi, the futuristic script about female infanticide, directed by Manish Jha, she says, “Commercial movies are fantastic but I think movies like Matrubhoomi that bring awareness about social issues are also important.”

What are they expecting from the movie? – “We are expecting a super hit,” chorus Aushima and Rohit.

“Go watch the movie, because there is a superstar in all of us,” adds Rohit.
