What’s in a name?
SUPERSTITIONS of any kind are of prime importance to TV janta. Recently, Divyanka Tripathi’s mother put her foot down when a death scene had to be filmed on her lovely daughter, the actor of Banoo Main Teri Dulhann fame. Eager not to incur the angry mummy’s wrath, Zee TV promptly consulted astrologer Chaaru Haas Naik. Keeping with current astrological trends (which demand that extra alphabets be added to names immediately) Naik has said that Tripathi’s name be spelled with an extra ‘y’ and co-star Sharad Malhotra’s to be spelled with an extra ‘a’. Lets see if it wards off the evil. Or er, the mummy.

Grow up
WHO’S a prude for making a big deal of taking a swig of brandy while shooting a scene in ice-cold water? Mohit Malik. Although Malik, aka Rajvir Kapoor, of Pari Hoon Main was okay with doing a swimming pool scene in what he called “scanty clothing”, he was reluctant to quaff some alcohol to keep him from getting sick. He says, “The chilly weather was making it very difficult for me to shoot. So I gave in to forbidden pleasure and got the much-needed relief.” At last, however, Malik was able to give the perfect take for the romantic scene.

Age rage
ADDITE Shirwakar, aka Chandra of Banoo Main Teri Dulhann, is certainly not ready to streak her hair white for the show. The show is set for a 20-year generation leap soon and Shirwakar, who want to retain her youth on screen, is eager to bow out of the show. “I’m not too keen on portraying an aged character. I will miss working with the unit though,” she adds.
